The Monopoly® London Pub Crawl

London is probably the only city in the world in which you can go on a pub crawl of the roads in the Monopoly® board game. To do it, you'll need:

  • Enough money for 26 drinks - stick to half pints or you'll never get there
  • A Travelcard or Oyster Card, which gives you access to all of London's buses and tube trains
  • A group of mates stupid enough to accompany you

Although you could try to do the crawl in the order of the roads on the board, the amount of travelling involved would mean that you'd be unlikely to do the whole lot in one day.

The crawl usually starts in the Old Kent Road; as most of the people who went on our crawl come from west of London, we decided to meet up at Marylebone Station instead. If you'd prefer to start at the Old Kent Road, The World Turned Upside Down usually opens at noon on Saturdays - however, the barman told us that he'd be happy to open at 11 if we wanted (just ask nicely...).

Currently, British licencing laws stipulate that pubs may open at 11am and last orders are served at 11pm, except on Sundays when the latter is at 10:30pm. The laws are set to be relaxed towards the end of 2005.

Our pub crawl instructions are just below the board; or you can download a PDF version here.
