Downhill Cocktail

Type: Short Drink

Ingredients:

  • 1 tspn CognacFrench brandy distilled from white wine and matured in oak casks - VSO means very superior old; VSOP means very superior old pale; VVSOP means very very superior old (really!); XO means extremely old. Substitute: Brandy.
  • 1/2 msr GinA spirit made by distilling unmalted grain and infusing with juniper. Popular types of gin include London Dry Gin, which has a subtle flavour and aroma, and Plymouth Gin, a dry gin from Plymouth, England
  • 1/2 msr Orange CuracaoSweet orange-flavoured liqueur.
    Substitute: Triple sec or Cointreau if you're not worried about your cocktails being 100% authentic.
  • 1 msr Sherry (Sweet/Cream)Fortified wine made from grapes laid out in the sun to increase their sugar content. With sweet sherries, brandy or dule is added during fermentation to retain sweetness. Oloroso and Cream are examples of sweet sherries.
  • 1/2 msr Vermouth (Dry)Vermouth is a fortified wine flavoured with herbs, bark and plant extracts. Dry vermouth is pale, golden and white-wine based.


Method:

Fill a rocks glass with broken ice.
Stir and strain the ingredients into the glass.
Garnish with an orange slice, a cherry and straws.
